The Jessamine Christian Academy staff is a diverse and talented group of individuals that bring many gifts, educational backgrounds,
and skill sets to the school.
Lisa Owens
Principal Lisa Owens holds a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from University of Ky., A Masters’ in Teacher Leader from the University of the Cumberlands and she received an Education Specialist -School Leadership Certification from the University of the Cumberlands. Before coming to JCA, Ms.Owens was a teacher and Instructional Specialist for Fayette County Public Schools. This year she will get to put her Art Education minor into good use as he will be teaching the students Art. “I am super excited to be out of the classroom and have the chance to pour into the teacher this year. I also never thought I would get the chance to teach Art again but look how God orchestrates things. We are taking our teaching and learning to a new level.” To the BEST YEAR YET!!!
Jennielyz Soto-Rivera
Jennielyz Soto-Rivera is our Pre-K/ Kindergarten and our Spanish teacher this year. Ms. Jennie
has always had a love for children. “This year, God called me to do more. I am so grateful to be
able to pour into these young minds.Teaching is my calling. Being able to place Jesus in the
content is so rewarding. The students are growing academically and in Christ” Jennielyz is
from Puerto Rico. She has lived in the United States for 12 years.
Kristy Nevil
Kristy Nevil is our 1st/2nd grade teacher. She also teaches Music and Band. Kristy’s love for
the Word of God and Music make for an interesting Music lesson. She holds a Music Education
degree from Asbury University. Her dream has been to teach a school Band. This year with a
donation of instruments, it has come to fruition. All 4-6 graders will participate in Band.
Debbie Jorge
Debbie Jorge is our 3rd/4th grade teacher. Debbie brings a strong Math and Science background to the classroom. Her Chemical engineering degree translates into exciting, innovative and challenging lessons for the scholars. Debbie was born in Puerto Rico. Being a bilingual teacher, Mrs. Jorge enjoys bringing her native language into her daily instruction. I love teaching the students about the world around us and being able to place Christ in the center of it all is a plus.”
Gwyllyn Edwards
Gwyllyn “Glynn” Edwards or “Coach” is our 5-6 grade teacher. A retired, highly,
decorated Marine Corps veteran, Coach brings a fresh, and exciting perspective to JCA. Along with his military experience, Coach Edwards has worked in education, teaching K-8. His transformative leadership style and innovative thinking make every learning experience extremely engaging for our scholars. Coach Edwards is currently pursuing his Ph.D. in Organization and Management.
